Members of the plant, entomological, environmental and agricultural communities are gearing up for the second annual National Invasive Species Awareness Week February 28-March 4, 2011. NISAW will have a variety of activities in Washington, D.C., during that week, but the awareness efforts do not have to be limited to nation’s capitol. Every region of the United States is plagued with invasive pests and diseases that affect a variety of complex industries and natural resources. Invasive pests and diseases are all too common to Florida, a sentinel state for exotic pests and diseases due to its status as an international center for trade and proximity to other regions of the world.
